8. Ark Bapt 0-4

Based on their championship last season, many were probably not surprised by Olive Branch ending the day at 4-0.  However, they still have El Dorado and Fayetteville tomorrow.  If they finish this pool undefeated, we feel that will be very impressive, and would make them our favorite to win the tournament.  We are baffled, though, because of their strange 12-11 victory over Broken Arrow.  El Dorado played about as we expected.  Stillwater, under new head coach Tucker Barnard, had a big win over Fayetteville and finished the day 3-1.  Fayetteville is the surprise team as we had them picked to win this pool, but finished the day 1-1-2. The remaining teams finished about as expected, although we did not know what to expect from Broken Arrow, who tied Fayetteville.

STANDINGS
1. Bentonville 4-0
2. Heritage Hall 3-1
    Har-Ber 3-1
4. Calvary 2-2
    McAlester 2-2
6. GCT 1-3
    Victory 1-3
8. Mayflower 0-4

Our first thought on the results of this pool:  WOW!!!  Which is for Bentonville's wins, but really for their scores.  I have always felt they could be dominant in 7 on 7 if they wanted to be, but have never put much emphasis on it.  Apparently, they have a little chip on their shoulder as they have outscored opponents 128-38 in 4 games.  That's an average score of 32-10.  They are probably now our favorite to win not just this pool, but the entire tournament.  The rest of the pool shook out about as expected.

Pool C
  • Midwest City 28, Mountain Home 9
  • Midwest City 35, Rogers Heritage 21
  • Midwest City 29, Shiloh 19
  • Midwest City 20, Bastrop 11
  • Bastrop 15, Charleston 10
  • Bastrop 33, Hillcrest 3
  • Bastrop 23, Jonesboro 15
  • Rogers Heritage 31, Shiloh 15
  • Rogers Heritage 30, Hillcrest 9
  • Rogers Heritage 22, Jonesboro 18
  • Charleston 35, Mountain Home 21
  • Charleston 22, Shiloh 19
  • Jonesboro 35, Charleston 19
  • Shiloh 21, Mountain Home 11
  • Mountain Home 27, Hillcrest 11
  • Jonesboro 23, Hillcrest 23
STANDINGS
1. Midwest City 4-0
2. Bastrop 3-1
    Rogers Heritage 3-1
4. Charleston 2-2
5. Jonesboro 1-2-1
6. Shiloh 1-3
7. Mountain Home 1-3
8. Hillcrest 0-3-1

Apparently, Midwest City is pretty good.  They defeated two teams that ended the day at 3-1, Bastrop and Heritage.  Heritage was our favorite to win this pool, and we think they be one of 8 teams that can win the championship when bracket play begins tomorrow.  Charleston was a nice surprise, especially with their victory of Shiloh, who finished 1-3 and continues to struggle this summer.  The biggest disappointment of the tournament may be that receiver Dorian Green-Beckham, the top rated player in the nation, is sitting out with a hamstring injury.
