Pulaski Academy won their second 7-on-7 tournament of the summer...by about 2/10 of a second! The Bruins went ahead of Bryant in the finals on a two-point conversion, 37-36 with less than 2 minutes left to play. On their 3rd down play from about the 30-yard line with about 20 seconds remaining, Bryant completed a touchdown pass and began celebrating their apparent tournament win, but the official had ruled that the 4-second timer had buzzed, nullifying the Hornet touchdown, giving the Bruins the tournament championship.
Those two teams had hooked up earlier in the day in pool play, a game in which Bryant won, 42-29. That last non-scoring drive by Bryant was the only possession that the Hornets did not score against Pulaski Academy (11 touchdowns in 12 possessions).
The most pleasant surprise of the day was likely the play of the Fordyce Redbugs. Coach David Little and the Redbugs finished, 3-1-1, tying Maumelle in pool play then defeating Robinson, Mena, and Maumelle before falling to Pulaski Academy in the tournament semifinals. Fordyce will be a very tough matchup for 3A teams this fall.
