2012 Arkansas State Red Wolves Football Camp Dates

Gus Malzahn and the Arkansas State University football staff have put together a large slate of camps that will take place this June and July. They will have most camps on the campus of ASU, but they have also scheduled a traveling camp for Arkansas High in Texarkana.

The Red Wolves coaches are preparing for three different Team Camp events. The Team Camp is a padded camp for high school coaches to bring their teams to compete against other high schools from around the area. The 2-day camp will have team competitions in drills, 7-on-7, and more. The cost of the camp is $60 for a commuter and $80 for an overnight camper.

There will be two different sessions of the Red Wolves Senior Mini Camp. These 1-day camps will feature on the field practice sessions, agility work, meetings with coaching staff, and more. The Senior Mini Camps are for campers that will be entering grades 9-12 in the Fall 2012. The cost of the camp is $30 for each camper. The Traveling Camp will be very similar to the Senior Mini Camp except for the location in Texarkana.

The Future Red Wolves Camp is a 3-day, morning-only camp designed for boys entering grades 1-8 in the Fall 2012. Campers will be broken down into groups by grade and position to receive as much individual instruction as possible. Campers will enjoy learning football fundamentals from the Arkansas State Football Staff. The cost for the Future Red Wolves Camp is $100, but there is a discount for additional siblings.

The Arkansas State Special Teams Camp is designed for long snappers, punters and kickers that will be entering grades 7-12 in the Fall 2012. This 1-day camp will feature instruction from Arkansas State University coaches as well as Jamie Kohl and his staff of former coaches and players. The Special Teams camp costs $150 for the full day of instruction.

The 7-on-7 and OL/DL Camp is designed to get high school coaches to bring their teams, both skill players and linemen to the campus for competitions. The camp can accommodate individual campers that play offensive or defensive line and will be entering grades 9-12 in the Fall 2012. This 1-day camp will have a 7-on-7 tournament (guaranteed at least 7 games) and offensive and defensive lineman camp. The cost of the camp is $150 per team (for up to 20 players). Each additional player is $10.

Finally, the Gus Malzahn Fantasy Camp is open to men ages 21 and over that want to learn what it takes to play for "one of the hottest name in college football.” Coach Malzahn and his staff invite you to join them for an exciting weekend of fellowship, story-telling, offensive and defensive meetings and much more. The camp is designed for men ranging from “Football Gurus” to “Sunday Morning Quarterbacks” and everything in between. This will be a laid back weekend of fun and fellowship. The goal is to give campers a behind-the-scenes look of what it is like to be a member of a championship team. The cost for a "Heisman" camper is $1500 while an "All-American" camper is $1000.

2012 Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys Football Camp Dates

Arkansas Tech University head coach Steve Mullins and his staff will conduct several camps and a 7-on-7 tournament this summer. The Wonder Boys staff will conduct the camps in June and July.

There will be two sessions of the Wonder Boys Football - Youth Day Camp. The first session is June 18-20 while the second session will be conducted July 9-11. The camp is designed for ages 6-12. Camp participants will learn the basics of football skills and movements in this beginning football skills camp. ATU football players will share their experiences of playing college football with campers during the mid morning break.  The cost of the Youth Day Camp on the ATU campus is $75 and a camp T-shirt is included.

The ATU football staff will conduct a Senior Skills Camp for college eligible seniors (2013 Graduating Class) on June 30. The ATU staff will monitor the testing and evaluation of the campers football skills. The cost of the skills camp is $40.

The Arkansas Tech 7-on-7 Tournament will be held on June 12. This one-day tournament will consist of a round robin brackets in the morning and seeded single elimination play in the afternoon. Each team will be guaranteed 3 games in the morning and a minimum of 1 game in the afternoon. The cost of the event is $200 and coaches must register their teams. A tournament T-shirt is included for each team member.

The Arkansas Tech Football - Team Camp will be conducted June 14. This team camp will allow each team to receive valuable live repetitions against other schools and systems. Teams will practice in all phases of practice including: inside drill, 1 on 1’s, skeleton, and scrimmages. Drills will take place on Tech’s Practice Fields and will be supervised by Tech’s football staff. The cost of the camp is $250 (T-shirt is included) for teams up to 25 members ($10 for each additional member over 25). Again, the coach must register his team for the event.

Finally, the Arkansas Tech Football - 15th Annual Lineman Only Camp will be conducted June 24-27. The primary objective of this camp is to have fun while developing fundamental skills which enable tight ends, linebackers, offensive and defensive linemen to be successful. The camp is intended only for inside/outside linebackers, strong safeties, offensive/defensive lineman, and tight ends. The cost for day campers is $200. The camp is $250 for overnight campers.

"Final" Update - 2011 Arkansas Football Camp and 7-on-7 Tournament Schedule

Updated 5/29 - DeWitt and Fountain Lake Tournaments Added, West Memphis 7-0n-7 on June 4 has been canceled.

We have been looking high and low for team camps, individual camps, and 7-on-7 events scheduled for this summer. We think that we have essentially all the events for 2011. If you know of one that is left out, please let us know.

2011 Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys Football Camps

*Helmet Stickers - Distant Replay

Over the last 4 years, we have been discussing the concept that 7-on-7 competitions emphasize the importance of skill position players. They also allow the skill players to develop that all-important concept of timing between quarterback, running backs, and receivers. However, what usually comes up in the discussions is what should linemen (both offensive and defensive) be doing during the summer while the guys with the eligible numbers are "playing catch?"

We came up with very few ideas other than conditioning and weight training. So, we are looking to you guys out there for some fun ways of making sure that these big guys are involved. We are interested in how coaches make these guys understand their importance to the success of the team. Along those same lines, how do you reward OL/DL during the regular season because the media tends to concentrate on the stats of the QBs/WRs/RBs?

For example, do you make the internal team recognition (e.g., helmet stickers) more obtainable for the linemen?

Please submit your thoughts and ideas for discussion fodder.

Update #1 - 2011 Arkansas Football Camp and 7-on-7 Tournament Schedule

We have been looking high and low for team camps, individual camps, and 7-on-7 events scheduled for this summer.  Here is our best guess at the schedule for Arkansas High School Football (7-on-7, Team Camps, and Individual Camps) in 2011.  We are pretty sure that we have missed a couple of events. So, if you know of one that is left out, please let us know.

2011 Southern Arkansas University Football Camps

The coaching staff at Southern Arkansas University will be conducting several camps this summer. The coaches are looking to provide opportunities for campers to improve on the fundamentals and gain confidence in their skill set.

The initial camp this summer is the LIL' Mulerider Camp (intended for grades 1-6). This camp will take place in the mornings on June 13-15. Campers will need workout clothes, cleats, and bottled water when they show up for camp each day.

Two overnight camps (SAU Offensive/Defensive Lineman Camp and SAU Skill Camp) will be conducted June 15-17. These camps are intended for players entering grades 7-12. Campers will need to bring a helmet, shoulder pads, workout clothes (for 6 practices), and supplies for the overnight stays.

The final camp of the summer is the SAU Senior Camp and is open only to players entering their senior year of high school. The camp is a one day camp that will take place on July 23. This camp will include an on the field practice session, meetings with the coaching staff, agility testing, a campus tour and an academics session. Campers should bring workout clothes, cleats, and running shoes.

The SAU Muleriders will be part of the newly formed Great American Conference in the 2011 football season.

Battle of the Trenches Lineman Camp

While this website is mainly concerned with the passing game and 7-on-7 defense, we have been alerted to a camp that makes the passing (and running) game go during the regular season. The Battle of the Trenches Lineman Camp will take place at Nettleton High School in Jonesboro on June 9-10, 2011. The camp will be open to rising freshmen to seniors in high school. The camp is sanctioned by the Mississippi High School Activities Association.

During the camp offensive lineman will be instructed on these items: Pass sets, Zone blocking, Cutoffs, Scoops, Pulls, Hand to Hand, Base Blocking, Speed rush, Cross face, and Twist.  The defensive lineman will work to learn and improve these areas: Ball get-off, Base block and double teams, Evasive pass rush moves, Stretch and Zone, Blow delivery progression, Pass rush angles, Stunt angles, Dip and lean, Counter moves, and Hoop drills.
