Fayetteville Captures 2013 Harrison 7-on-7 Title

Two teams went through the day unscathed to meet in the finals on a beautiful day in Harrison.  Strafford (MO) and Fayetteville dominated pre-bracket play to go 4-0 to earn the top seeds.  Fayetteville defeated Harrison (52-22) and Conway Christian (45-11) and Strafford beat Mountain Home (50-7) and Siloam Springs (25-18) to meet in the finals.  Fayetteville led 15-8 just before half when Strafford threw an interception on a Hail Mary to end the half, making the score 18-8.  Strafford would make it close with the ball down only three points, but Fayetteville prevailed in the end to win the title, 28-25.

Other than Fayetteville and Strafford, Conway Christian was impressive with wins over Harrison, Alma (twice), and Glendale (MO) with their only losses coming at the hands of Strafford and Fayetteville.

Pulaski Academy Fourpeats at Summer Showdown

After finishing pool play 2-1-1 and capturing a 3rd seed out of group A, Pulaski Academy ran off 4 straight tournament victories to capture its 4th straight Showdown Championship.  After tying Mills and losing to Arkansas Baptist, the Bruins defeated Mena, Fordyce, Pine Bluff, and Mills in its bid for the trophy.

Conway and Pine Bluff were both dominant at times, but both had their hiccups. Pine Bluff looked dominant going into their semifinal matchup against PA, but could not get anything going, dropping the game, 34-0.  Conway only dropped a 27-24 game against Mena in pool play and a 20-10 loss to Mills in the semifinal to finish the day at 5-2.

The pleasant surprises were Fordyce, Mills, Mena, and Robinson.  Fordyce only dropped two games on the day, both were against PA.  Mills, not known for their passing game, made it all the way to the finals.  Robinson's only loss in pool play was to Conway before losing to Pine Bluff in the quarterfinals and Mena's only loss in pool play was to Robinson before having the unfortunate matchup with PA in the first round.
